What a Week!!

I have been on the road quite abit this week so I haven’t been able to post until tonight. It has been a wild week for training. On Tuesday I got in a 3 mile run on the treadmill before I drove to Indy. On Wednesday morning I got up at 4:00 AM CST to get a swim workout in before my day of conferences began. I got to swim at the Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. It is a massive place and the pool is large and deep. s584440095_5661996_4873

The pool was full on both sides of the bulkhead but because of the depth and width of the pool you didn’t notice anyone else in it. It cost $6 to get in so if you are ever in the area it is worth getting up early to go swim.

Later in the day I got hour in on the treadmill but don’t  know how far I went because the speed was all messed up. I had to get it up to 10 miles an hour to actually run so you know it was messed up. Thursday I got another short treadmill run in because it was still below zero. This weather has been a real test for my training this winter but I have stuck with it.

The big run today was a nine miler that felt like 20. We left headed south out of Chatham and the wind was howling. It was coming out of the south at around 21 miles an hour. The first two miles were brutal but we all made it with me bringing up the rear.  This was a perseverance test, kind of like the first time out on the bike in early March or April when the wind is so strong you feel like the whole ride was uphill. Today’s run would have been much harder without my training group.  I was the last one to come in but they were their to cheer me on and Jenni gave support from the follow SUV, I made it, just grinding it out.

Life is like that sometimes, it’s a grinder. The cool thing is that as a follow of Jesus I’m never alone and my I have a great training group (Delta Church) that cheers me on. So thanks everyone for cheering me on to better things whether in my training for a race or in my walk with Christ. A letter in the Bible puts it this way:  And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another…
